During a debate in the Senedd on October 12 on getting people more physically active Julie Morgan paid tribute to a school 'walking bus' scheme set up by Sergeant Louise Lucas who died on Swansea’s Kingsway in 2015 – the inquest into her death is currently underway.

Julie Morgan was speaking in a debate on encouraging people to be more physically active and Active Travel.

She said: “I’d just like to praise the walking bus initiative at Ysgol y Wern in my constituency which is supported by police colleagues of Sergeant Louise Lucas who was tragically killed while crossing a road in Swansea in March last year and who, sadly, has been in the news in the last few days.

“Her colleagues from Llanishen Police Station were determined to carry on the walking bus to the school that she had started which I’ve been on myself this time last year (pictured above).

“it is a really excellent way of building exercise into people’s lives and it is great for parents to know that their children are safe walking to school. The fact that it has continued is a fitting tribute to Louise.”
